چکیده

Figure 2 Technique of splinting metacarpal fractures directly or using the proximal phalanx as a piston. The main issue with the closed technique is maintaining the reduced position in a plaster cast once moulding is complete, thereby commonly necessitating surgical stabilisation. We describe a novel and useful technique that maintains the reduction in the intrinsic plus (Edinburgh) position with the wrist at 20–30o of extension (Fig 1).

Skin anatomy and antigen expression after burn wound closure with composite grafts of cultured skin cells and biopolymers.

Closure of large skin wounds (i.e., burns, congenital giant nevus, reconstruction of traumatic injury) with split-thickness skin grafts requires extensive harvesting of autologous skin. Composite grafts consisting of collagen-glycosaminoglycan (GAG) substrates populated with cultured dermal fibroblasts and epidermal keratinocytes were tested in a pilot study on full-thickness burn wounds of thr...

The increasing role of epidermal grafting utilizing a novel harvesting system in chronic wounds.

Skin grafting techniques range from harvesting full-thickness to split-thickness grafts to grafts containing only epidermis. All of these autologous tissues have their place on the reconstructive ladder. However, the use of full-thickness and split-thickness grafts as coverage over chronic wounds remains limited by a number of factors, including the need for anesthesia, a surgically trained phy...

Disinfection of the skin with detergent preparations of Irgasan DP 300 and other antiseptics.

An evaluation of the relative effectiveness of 2% hexachlorophane and 0.75% Irgasan DP 300 bar soaps in disinfection of the hands showed that the former caused a significantly larger reduction in natural skin bacteria than the latter after one handwash and after six handwashings, three on each of two successive days. Repeated use of Irgasan DP 300 bar soap caused a significantly greater reducti...
